5 ways to get the babysitter to get used to us as quickly as possible

You have just taken a babysitter for the first time. Exciting for you and your child, but also for the babysitter. How can you let her get used to you and your house as quickly as possible?

It is of course a new environment for the babysitter. Just as it can take a while for you to get used to her, it takes her a while to get used to you and the new environment. Here are a few tips!

Organize a fun day

A good way to get to know each other well is to organize a 't-day'. You invite the babysitter on an afternoon when you are free and your children are at home. You stay there first and go together, for example, to play a game. After a while you go for a walk in the shopping center or do some shopping so you're out of the house for a while. The children go to you sooner if they need something. If you are not there, they have to go to the babysitter. The babysitter is really an hour to be careful and you are still close if you are needed. Evaluate afterwards how it went. Repeat the driving day if you, your child or the babysitter needs it. Extend each time you have a fun day, the timeframe that you are away.

Give a tour

During such a day it is nice for the babysitter if you, or your child, give a guided tour. Show the babysitter the whole house and emphasize the most important places for her, such as the room of your child, where the toilet is or where she can find clean clothes for your little one. Will she also do household chores like laundry or cooking? She explains how the equipment works for this. This way the babysitter knows where she can find everything.

"Do you want to eat?"

Maybe you do not like it the first time, but after a few times it's a nice idea to invite her to continue eating. So it is not only "hi" and "bye" when coming and going, but she also has the chance to get to know you a bit more.

The notebook

What could work fine, for you and your babysitter, is to make a notebook with all the important things that your babysitter needs to know. For example, a schedule: what time does your child eat and what time does he / she go to bed? But also the practical things such as the operating instructions of the washing machine (in case they forget and you have agreed that they are doing a laundry), the favorite cuddly toy of your child or when the cat gets food. The babysitter can always fall back on this.

This notebook can also be used well to keep track of everything. Ask your babysitter to write down when your child has eaten, how long he / she slept and if there were any special details that day.

Be reachable

Of course you want to be kept informed and the babysitter indicates when something is not going well. Make it clear to your babysitter that you can be reached via WhatsApp (or they can always call). Ask her to keep you informed, even if things are going well. It is always nice to get a photo when you are away!
